The common solution to homelessness--"Get a job".

But getting a job is not always so simple, and keeping a job can be even more difficult.  Some of the obstacles street-involved youth face include:

  • Homelessness
  • Substance use
  • Mental health issues
  • Lack of proper ID
  • Lack of education
  • Lack of experience

And perhaps the biggest barrier of all--a lack of support.

Growing Opportunities pre-employment program staff work alongside participants to overcome their barriers, identify their goals, seek out training opportunities, find supported work placements where youth can learn, and empower youth who never realized how much they have to offer.

Our participants are SKILLED, MOTIVATED, RESPONSIBLE, and RELIABLE.  Many simply haven't had the opportunity to prove it.  Our program is full of untapped skilled workers who are AVAILABLE FOR WORK.  We can offer:

  • Yard work
  • Light maintenance
  • General labour

If you are interested in hiring our youth, a business owner who is interested in partnering with our program, or require further information, please call Growing Opportunities staff at 783-5617 or email Adrien Sala, Growing Opportunities Coordinator.
