Resource Assistance for Youth supports youth and young adults up to the age of 29. In effect, it is the youth who drive programming at RaY. Their voices are heard at RaY with staff responding to each youth as an individual, tailoring the services to their specific needs. The youth at RaY come from a variety of backgrounds and do not easily fit into preset parameters. RaY believes in self-determination, and all youth who participate in programming do so voluntarily. Youth who come to RaY choose to be here, and when they are ready, RaY staff will support them in their choices to move forward.
Youth Speakers' Bureau
As part of the prevention program, the Youth Speakers' Bureau is made up of young people with the common goal of educating the public about the realities of youth poverty and homelessness. They speak from a place of experience and honesty in an effort to demystify and deglamourize the notion of running away and living on the street. They offer the facts straight, raw, and to the point. They speak the truth. Many members of the bureau contribute to RaY's youth blog.
Youth Advisory Committee
RaY's Youth Advisory Committee is made up of dedicated young people who are committed to RaY and look to advise staff as to what the needs and trends are for programming. The committee may be involved in the planning of events and can also serve as peer mentors to youth in the drop-in centre.
