PRIMARY HEALTHCARE

At RaY’s Health Clinic, youth can see a Nurse Practitioner for their medical needs. The clinic is located at RaY and, like the rest of RaY, is non-judgmental.

Here are some of the things the Nurse Practitioner can help with:

  • Common cold, flu, or illness

  • Wounds, cuts, rashes

  • Vaccines

  • Infections

  • Medical Prescriptions

  • Pregnancy testing, birth control, prenatal care/postnatal care

  • STBBI testing (Sexually transmitted blood borne infections, also known as STI or STD)

  • Condoms, dental dams, and lube

  • Referrals and connections to additional medical services

  • General medical care or inquiries

  • Harm reduction supplies

  • Narcan (naloxone) kits and training

  • Transitioning and gender affirming care

Our Nurse Practitioner is available by appointment on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. To request an appointment, you can email us at info@rayinc.ca, call us at 204-783-5617 ext 203, or speak directly with a RaY staff member.

Anything you share with the Nurse Practitioner is entirely confidential.

A few things to know when meeting with the Nurse Practioner:

  • If you have a health card or other information about your health, you can bring those, but the Nurse Practitioner can see you even if you don’t have them. Staff can help you get a new health card, but in the meantime, we can still provide medical services. You will still need a health card to access care at other organizations.

  • At RaY, we are inclusive of all genders and non-judgmental, including support for trans youth. Our Nurse Practitioner can talk with you about what sort of care can best support your transition, while calling you by your preferred name and your pronouns.

  • RaY’s health clinic is available to youth ages 0-29 who are connected with RaY’s services. If you are outside of these ages, you can receive primary care at Access Downtown, 640 Main Street.
